Se manifiestan como una repentina sensaci\u00f3n de calor, y a veces de ansiedad, al aumentar el flujo sangu\u00edneo de la piel del cuello, cara y t\u00f3rax. Pueden ir acompa\u00f1ados de sudoraci\u00f3n y palpitaciones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La Asociaci\u00f3n Espa\u00f1ola para el Estudio de la Menopausia (<strong>Aeem<\/strong>) establece que un&nbsp;<strong>70-80% de las mujeres<\/strong>&nbsp;refiere padecer<strong>&nbsp;sofocos<\/strong>, mientras que otro 2-20% apenas desarrolla s\u00edntomas. En el 10% de los casos, estas manifestaciones interfieren de modo importante en la&nbsp;<strong>rutina cotidiana<\/strong>, disminuyendo la calidad de vida y la&nbsp;<strong>autopercepci\u00f3n&nbsp;<\/strong>de salud de la mujer. Sin embargo, solo&nbsp;<strong>dos de cada diez<\/strong>&nbsp;solicitan atenci\u00f3n y tratamiento m\u00e9dicos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hablamos de ello con la&nbsp;especialista en ginecolog\u00eda de&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/riberasalud.com\/polusa\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Ribera-Polusa<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;<strong>Luz Marina M\u00e1rquez<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>\u00bfPor qu\u00e9 aparecen los sofocos?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Los sofocos se producen por la disminuci\u00f3n en la producci\u00f3n de estr\u00f3genos, que causa una alteraci\u00f3n en la regulaci\u00f3n de la temperatura corporal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>\u00bfDurante cu\u00e1nto tiempo se producen?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>El per\u00edodo resulta variable, pero la media es de 4,5 a\u00f1os desde la \u00faltima regla.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>\u00bfCu\u00e1l es su frecuencia y duraci\u00f3n?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Su duraci\u00f3n es variable, ya que pueden durar solo unos pocos segundos o varios minutos (la media es de tres o cuatro minutos). Aunque los sofocos pueden ser diurnos o nocturnos, resultan m\u00e1s frecuentes por la noche y tambi\u00e9n cuando la mujer experimenta situaciones de estr\u00e9s. Su intensidad var\u00eda de leve o moderada a severa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><strong><em>Los sofocos se suelen mantener durante 4,5 a\u00f1os desde la \u00faltima regla, aunque es un per\u00edodo variable<\/em><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>\u00bfEn qu\u00e9 momento empiezan?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Hay un 40% de las mujeres en las que pueden comenzar dos a\u00f1os antes del cese de la menstruaci\u00f3n (perimenopausia), aumentando ese porcentaje al 60-80% en el a\u00f1o previo al cese y al comenzar la menopausia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>\u00bfSer\u00eda posible evitarlos?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Existen varios factores de riesgo para presentar sofocos, como la obesidad, haber sufrido la extracci\u00f3n de ambos ovarios, una escasa actividad f\u00edsica, la raza \u2013las estad\u00edsticas se\u00f1alan que las mujeres negras y latinas experimentan estos s\u00edntomas durante un periodo de tiempo m\u00e1s prologando\u2013, sufrir habitualmente s\u00edndrome premenstrual y algunas particularidades metab\u00f3licas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>\u00bfQu\u00e9 tratamientos se pueden prescribir para combatir los sofocos?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>La primera recomendaci\u00f3n ser\u00e1 tener unos h\u00e1bitos de vida saludables: mantener un peso adecuado, actividad f\u00edsica habitual, sue\u00f1o regular e ingesti\u00f3n de l\u00edquidos suficientes. En el caso de aquellas mujeres en las que los s\u00edntomas interfieren con su vida, hay una buena cantidad de opciones de tratamiento, que deber\u00e1n analizar junto a su m\u00e9dico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>\u00bfEn mujeres que se han sometido a una histerectom\u00eda o a tratamientos contra el c\u00e1ncer est\u00e1n indicados los mismos tratamientos?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>En el caso de mujeres que se han sometido a una histerectom\u00eda (una cirug\u00eda para extirpar el \u00fatero y en ocasiones tambi\u00e9n el cuello uterino) s\u00ed se usan los mismos tratamientos. En las pacientes oncol\u00f3gicas, depender\u00e1 del tipo de c\u00e1ncer que hayan presentado, pues en los tumores dependientes de hormonas (estr\u00f3genos y progesterona) hay que hacer una concienzuda elecci\u00f3n del tratamiento, pero s\u00ed existen opciones terap\u00e9uticas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><strong><em>Las pacientes oncol\u00f3gicas tambi\u00e9n tienen opciones terap\u00e9uticas para combatir los sofocos<\/em><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>\u00bfExisten tratamientos espec\u00edficos para las pacientes con antecedentes personales de c\u00e1ncer de mama?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Hay que evaluar muy bien a la paciente, para ver qu\u00e9 opci\u00f3n terap\u00e9utica ofrecerle; pero no son tratamientos espec\u00edficos, son los mismos que podemos usar en cualquier mujer, con excepciones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>\u00bfLos sofocos est\u00e1n directamente relacionados con el insomnio?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>S\u00ed, est\u00e1n estrechamente relacionados, pues en los casos en los que se presentan durante la noche, estos afectan a la continuidad del sue\u00f1o y a la capacidad para reiniciarlo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Adem\u00e1s de los sofocos, \u00bfqu\u00e9 les consultan las mujeres durante la menopausia?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Nos consultan mucho sobre el insomnio, sobre las alteraciones en la vida sexual, sudores, cefaleas,
