What is the Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing?

El Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT) It is a screening test that analyzes the cell-free fetal DNA present in the mother's blood to assess the risk of chromosomal abnormalities.

It poses no risk to the baby, as it only requires a maternal blood draw.

It is a test of screening with CE-IVD certificationwhich is part of prenatal monitoring, but It does not replace invasive diagnostic tests when these are indicated.

Who is this genetic pregnancy test suitable for?

It is recommended for pregnant women from week 10 onwards, especially if they have:

✓ Abnormalities in ultrasound scans.

✓ High risk in first trimester screening.

✓ Maternal age ≥ 35 years.

✓ History of aneuploidies.

✓ Maternal anxiety.

✓ Pregnancy through assisted reproduction.

Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT)

What does NIPT detect?

At Ribera Lab we offer two options:

Prenatal Test Basic Non-Invasive

Detects risk of:

  • Trisomy 21 (Down Syndrome)
  • Trisomy 18 (Edwards Syndrome)
  • Trisomy 13 (Patau Syndrome)
  • Sex chromosome aneuploidies (X and Y)*

* In twin pregnancies, it is not possible to study sex chromosome aneuploidies.

Prenatal Test Premium Non-Invasive

It includes all of the above and also:

  • Aneuploidies of all chromosomes (1–22, X, Y)
  • Deletions and duplications greater than 7 Mb
  • Applicable in singleton and twin pregnancies
  • In twin testing: it allows the detection of the presence or absence of the Y chromosome

International benchmark technology

At Ribera Lab we use NGS (Next Generation Sequencing) technology from Illumina®, a world leader in clinical genetic sequencing and a reference in advanced prenatal screening.

This technology analyzes millions of fragments of fetal DNA present in maternal blood, allowing:

  • Detecting chromosomal abnormalities with very high sensitivity and specificity
  • Minimize the risk of analytical errors
  • Obtain reliable results even in the early stages of pregnancy
