As\u00ed lo explica el doctor Rub\u00e9n Betoret, jefe de Ginecolog\u00eda y Obstetricia del <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vinaloposalud.com\/\">Hospital Universitario del Vinalop\u00f3<\/a>, el centro sanitario que gestiona el <a href=\"https:\/\/www.riberasalud.com\/\">grupo Ribera<\/a> en Elche. Por tanto, ese sangrado abundante que tanto extra\u00f1a a mujeres que no han tenido esta sintomatolog\u00eda en su juventud o en la etapa reproductiva es relativamente frecuente en esos \u00faltimos a\u00f1os del periodo, antes de empezar la menopausia propiamente dicha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La Organizaci\u00f3n Mundial de la Salud (OMS) estima que el sangrado abundante tiene una prevalencia global entre el 8-27% de las mujeres en las diferentes etapas de su vida.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La doctora Patricia Molina, ginec\u00f3loga en el <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marinasalud.es\/\">Hospital de Denia<\/a>, tambi\u00e9n gestionado por el grupo Ribera, asegura que es uno de los motivos de consulta o urgencias m\u00e1s habituales en mujeres entre los 45-55 a\u00f1os, alrededor de la menopausia. Lo que ahora llaman los especialistas \u201csangrado uterino anormal\u201d, antes m\u00e1s conocido como menorragia, no solo se refiere a la cantidad de sangrado (m\u00e1s de 80 mililitros), sino tambi\u00e9n a su duraci\u00f3n (m\u00e1s de ocho d\u00edas), a si el ciclo es inferior a 25 d\u00edas de manera recurrente o hay co\u00e1gulos de manera frecuente. Pero \u00bfc\u00f3mo medir esos 80 mililitros? \u201cEs clave hacer una buena historia cl\u00ednica, hablando con la mujer\u201d, explica la doctora Molina. Adem\u00e1s, se pueden pedir pruebas anal\u00edticas como un hemograma. \u201cSi la mujer tiene anemia, por ejemplo, sumado a los s\u00edntomas que describe, es que hay un sangrado anormalmente abundante\u201d, a\u00f1ade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Consecuencias de las reglas abundantes<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Coincide en este punto el doctor Betoret, que asegura que el principal efecto secundario de un sangrado menstrual abundante es la anemia, \u201caunque en la mayor\u00eda de las mujeres la percepci\u00f3n en cuanto al sangrado no se correlaciona bien con su nivel de anemia\u201d. Tambi\u00e9n se\u00f1ala que \u201cla p\u00e9rdida excesiva de sangre menstrual puede interferir con la actividad f\u00edsica, emocional o social habitual de la mujer\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Adem\u00e1s, el especialista del Vinalop\u00f3 asegura que la cantidad de sangrado y el dolor o las molestias en la menstruaci\u00f3n no est\u00e1n necesariamente relacionados. \u201cAunque la dismenorrea es m\u00e1s frecuente en mujeres en las que las menstruaciones son prolongadas y abundantes, puede haber sangrado abundante sin dismenorrea, es decir, sin dolor\u201d, explica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Causas del sangrado excesivo<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>La doctora Molina explica que hay causas org\u00e1nicas y disfuncionales que pueden justificar esos sangrados abundantes: P\u00f3lipos, adenomiosis (desorden de gl\u00e1ndulas endometriales), leiomiomas y lesiones malignas o premalignas en el endometrio, en el caso de las causas org\u00e1nicas; y disfuncionales, es decir, que se\u00f1alan que algo no funciona bien, como las coagulopat\u00edas, disfunciones ovulatorias, des\u00f3rdenes endometriales, tratamientos que pueden afectar al sangrado y las inclasificables.
